When their fertility treatments fail, Judith and Niclas hire a surrogate mother in Ukraine. Horrified when war breaks out there, they offer the surrogate mother the chance to live with them in Munich. Her refuge in Germany is short-lived, however, as the agency insists on compliance with the contract. The baby has to be born and claimed in Ukraine. This production strategically utilized locations in Zagreb to double for Munich and Kiev, while Slovenia stood in for the Poland-Ukraine border. The production relied on the expertise of local Heads of Department, including the Makeup Designer, Gaffer, Key Grip, Sound Mixer, SFX Supervisor, and Picture Vehicle Coordinator.
