The Master Butcher

A young man and his wife struggle to create a good life for themselves in a new country. Based on Louise Erdrich’s novel ‘The Master Butchers Singing Club’.

This ambitious undertaking involved shooting two feature period films back-to-back, with locations across Croatia serving as a backdrop for diverse historical settings - everything from the Eastern Front of WWI, Schwarzwald in Germany, Hamburg, New York, and even South Dakota. The latter required us to construct a huge location build to recreate an American city in the 1920s.
